This policy describes how I, Dan Gold, use information collected through danielcgold.com.
Site analytics and product clicks
I use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site, including which products attract interest. Analytics may use cookies and browser identifiers and collect information such as pages visited, referring pages, device and browser information, approximate location, and interactions.
On the product shelf, I measure clicks on product photos, titles, detail links, and paid shopping links. On individual product pages, I measure clicks on the shopping buttons, including the mobile shopping button. Product-guide links to product pages are also measured.
These product-click events include a public product identifier, the link's placement, the type of page, and, for shopping links, the destination's domain. The public product identifier identifies a catalog item, not a visitor. The custom click events use the current and referring page addresses without query strings or fragments and do not include contact-form contents, typed search terms, or the full affiliate destination URL. Google Analytics also performs its ordinary site measurement separately.
I use this information to improve the site and understand product popularity. Sample Shelf, my internal product-management app, imports aggregate product-click counts from Google Analytics and product-page clicks, impressions and available aggregate search terms from Google Search Console. I use these reports to decide which product pages could be more useful and which products to cover in future content. This reporting connection does not import individual visitor profiles; Google omits anonymized search queries from the search-term reports. A shopping-link click does not tell me whether you completed a purchase.
Google processes Analytics information under its own policies. Read Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can manage cookies in your browser, use browser tracking protections, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on in a supported browser. Blocking analytics does not prevent you from browsing products or using the links. These controls do not erase information already collected.
Messages you send me
If you use the contact form, I receive the name, email address, and message you submit. Netlify processes form submissions for this site. I use those details to respond to you and handle your request; I do not include the form's contents in product-click events.
Hosting, media, and other services
The site uses Netlify for hosting, Bunny for product images, and external services for fonts and some embedded content. When your browser requests content from these services, they receive technical information needed to deliver it, such as your IP address and browser information. Embedded content, such as YouTube videos, may use the provider's cookies and analytics.
Shopping and other external links
Paid shopping links may pass through an affiliate-link service such as Geniuslink before opening a retailer. Those services and retailers may measure visits and purchases using their own cookies or identifiers. Their privacy policies apply when you use their services. I may receive affiliate reporting about link activity and qualifying purchases. I do not process your payment information on this site.
